The updated software includes enhanced features and improvements for the openQCM Wi2 Quartz Crystal Microbalance. 

The new software is developed in Python programming language and is available as a standalone application ready for Windows, offering improved stability and performance.

The Teensy development board is fully compatible with Arduino programming language and environement. Based on FreqCount library developed by Paul Stoffregen the computing capability of the 180 MHz Cortex-M4F microcontroller allows frequencies up to 65 MHz to be measured.

Download and install Anaconda Distribution 2022.05 for macOS:

Download and install Anaconda Distribution 2022.05 for Linux

  • Download and unzip openQCM_Wi2_v2.1_Python.zip
  • Open Terminal (or Anaconda Prompt) and install required packages:
    conda install pyserial
conda install pyqt5
conda install pyqtgraph
conda install numpy
pip install --upgrade pip --user
  • Set up serial port permissions:
    sudo usermod -a -G uucp $USER
sudo usermod -a -G dialout $USER
  • Log out and log back in for changes to take effect
  • Navigate to openQCM Wi2 directory and run:
    python main.py
