Kanazawa–Gordon equation

The Kanazawa–Gordon equation (1985) gives the frequency shift of a quartz crystal microbalance in contact with a liquid: it depends on the square root of the product of the liquid’s density and viscosity, not on any mass bound to the surface. These notes put it to work on openQCM, from the verification test in pure water to the calculator that applies it to your own data.

Try it in the QCM calculator (Sauerbrey, Kanazawa–Gordon and Voigt models), or watch the liquid experiment in how a quartz crystal microbalance works.
