Steering diffusion selectivity of chemical isomers within aligned nanochannels of metal-organic framework thin film
Summary
Diffusion of chemical isomers through the oriented, ångström-scale channels of a metal-organic framework thin film is measured by kinetic mass uptake and modelled by simulation. The work reveals a dynamic chemical interaction between the guest molecules and the framework and uses it to reverse the diffusion selectivity between positional haloalkane isomers, a route to better membrane separations and selective catalysis.
