Quartz crystal microbalance-based biosensing of proteins using molecularly imprinted polydopamine sensing films: Interplay between protein characteristics and molecular imprinting effect
Summary
Molecularly imprinted polydopamine films on QCM crystals were studied as synthetic receptors for proteins, using pepsin, bovine and human serum albumin and lysozyme in liquid. Binding affinities in the micromolar range rival common bioreceptors; a pepsin-imprinted film favours its target (imprinting factor 5.78), and denser imprinted sites and the right sample pH emerge as the keys to selectivity.
