Summary

Confined impinging jet mixing produces colloidally stable reference nanoplastics below 100 nm from polystyrene, polyethylene, polypropylene and PET, with fluorescent dyes built in so they can be traced. The particles were imaged inside macrophages and reshaped after synthesis into irregular forms closer to those found in the environment, offering a general route to model particles for uptake and toxicity studies.
