Nanofiber-coated quartz crystal microbalance with chitosan overlay for highly sensitive room temperature ammonia gas sensor
Summary
An ammonia sensor made by coating a QCM with electrospun PVAc nanofibres and overlaying them with chitosan. The chitosan layer raised the sensitivity from about 0.08 to 3.0 Hz/ppm, nearly 40 times, with response and recovery times of 9 s and 35 s and a detection limit of about 0.5 ppm, together with good selectivity, linearity, repeatability and long-term stability.
