Functionalized terpolymer-brush-based biointerface with improved antifouling properties for ultra-sensitive direct detection of virus in crude clinical samples
Summary
An antifouling terpolymer-brush coating, carrying antibodies against the SARS-CoV-2 nucleocapsid protein, lets a piezoelectric sensor detect the virus directly in untreated clinical samples in 20 minutes, down to about 1.3 × 10^4 PFU/mL. Results agree with qRT-PCR and mass spectrometry, and the coating resists fouling from plasma, swabs and stool.
