Biosensor for rapid detection of SARS-CoV-2 in real-world samples
Summary
A QCM biosensor for SARS-CoV-2 built on an antifouling surface carrying antibodies against the viral nucleocapsid (N) protein, which binds viral RNA. Without sample pre-treatment and in a single step it reaches a clinically relevant detection limit of 6.7×10^3 PFU/mL, agrees fully with qRT-PCR on nasopharyngeal swabs and was also used on swabs taken from public transport surfaces.
