A Comparative Assessment of a Piezoelectric Biosensor Based on a New Antifouling Nanolayer and Cultivation Methods: Enhancing S. aureus Detection in Fresh Dairy Products
Summary
A piezoelectric biosensor with an antifouling nanolayer is compared with four standard culture methods for detecting Staphylococcus aureus in fresh dairy products, including naturally contaminated samples. The biosensor resisted fouling from unprocessed products, detected S. aureus specifically and matched the Petrifilm and Baird-Parker methods in 30 minutes instead of 24 hours; the culture methods also behaved differently on spiked and naturally contaminated foods.
