Nanomaterial sensing: integrating MEMS technology and self-assembled monolayers
Summary
PhD thesis on combining self-assembled monolayers with MEMS sensors. It studies NeutrAvidin binding to biotinylated and spacer thiol SAMs by SPR and QCM, optimises aliphatic and aromatic amine SAMs on gold, and finds by AFM and QCM that gold nanoparticles deposit best at pH 5 and far more on the aliphatic amine, which was then used to weigh nanoparticles on a micro-paddle.
