Enzyme-Based Biosensor Production and Investigation of Sensitivity Properties
Abstract
In this study, the spin coating technique is used to produce thin films of different thicknesses and their sensitivity to various organic vapors is investigated. Polyphenol oxidase (PPO) enzyme together with different organic materials is used in thin-film production. Glass and quartz crystal are chosen as the solid-surface substrates, and the thin films are characterized using UV-visible spectrophotometry and the quartz crystal microbalance (QCM) technique. The QCM system is also used to measure the response of the grown thin films to various organic vapors. The effect of the enzyme when the produced thin films are used as a sensor material for the detection of organic vapors is examined. **Keywords (as given):** Spin coating, polyphenol oxidase, organic vapor sensor, quartz crystal microbalance (QCM).
