Synthesis of a removable cytoprotective exoskeleton by tea polyphenol complexes for living cell encapsulation
Summary
A shell of tea polyphenol and polyvinylpyrrolidone, held together by hydrogen bonds and free of metal ions, coats living cells; QCM and confocal reflectance confirm it forms, and its thickness follows the complex concentration. Coated yeast and HeLa cells survive UV light and, for yeast, 60 °C far better than uncoated ones, while growth and division are unaffected.
