Rapid Whole Blood Clot Retraction Assay on Quartz Crystal Microbalance
Summary
An automated test of whole-blood clot retraction that follows coagulation on a quartz crystal microbalance in 10–20 minutes. Comparing each sample with the same blood treated with a platelet aggregation inhibitor isolates the platelet contribution, giving a retraction index independent of haematocrit; together with the clotting time it separates platelet disorders, plasma factor defects and low fibrinogen.
