Biosensor design utilizing particle-bound enzymes
Summary
Thesis on cheap biosensing elements for point-of-care tests in low-resource settings: recombinant fusion proteins bind to silica, even silica from sand, and are purified and immobilised in one step, with a fluorescent tag to follow the process by eye. The particle-bound reagents stayed active for two months dry at room temperature, and a new falling-particle device beat suspension and packed-bed formats.
